Date(s) - 14th February - 16th February
We’re running a blog series leading up to conference – follow it here.
Joint FoR/Student Christian Movement conference, our annual Called to be Peacemakers conference with a twist!
The theme, “Peace, Power and Protest: Prophets for a New World”, reflects the fact that wherever we’re coming from we can all contribute to peacemaking and there’s no reason to think it’s too hard or we’re not clever enough.
Our fabulous keynote speaker is Inderjit Bhogal from the Corrymeela community, who brings with him a wealth of experience in nonviolence and reconciliation. Some SCM and FoR people visited the community earlier this year and found their time there critically helpful and engaging.
Our second speaker session will be a panel discussion with, among others, climate change campaigner Sunniva Taylor from Quaker Peace and Social Witness and Operation Noah, Angela Rayner from Christian CND and Yannick Budito from SCM, who will be addressing the question, “How can faith speak truth to power?”.
Aside from that, there’ll be the usual eclectic mix of workshops and assorted fun, with a core of worship running through the event.
What place does protest have in Christian witness? Work it out yourself this February!
Places are £60, although some bursaries are available.
