What can everyone do?

Everyone (supporter or not) can sign up to our eNewsletter, which goes out on an ad-hoc basis about 8 times per year. The eNewsletter ensures that you are kept up-to-date with our activities, new features on our website, events in the UK, and more. Almost anyone can give financially.

What do members get?

FoRE is a membership organisation open to anyone who, having read the 1914 Basis of the Fellowship, is in general agreement with it and wishes to become a member. Members are asked to pay an annual subscription but there is no fixed fee; rather we ask members to pay what they feel they can afford.

Members are...

Become a Member

What does membership mean, exactly?

We are a member-based organisation, but we are not member-led. This is why we have an Annual Council rather than an Annual General Meeting; it is the Council which governs our charity, and you can vote in person or by post if you are a member (but not if you are a supporter only).

I was contacted by you after expressing interest in the Methodist Peace Fellowship. Why is that?

The Methodist Peace Fellowship (MPF) in the UK is fully amalgamated with The Fellowship of Reconciliation, England FoRE). Being registered as a member or financial supporter of one is the same with both. The MPF members' newsletter, Peace in the Twenty-First Century, is published by MPF, but you can amend your receipt of this just like any other communication from FoRE using the form to tell us of changes to your general preferences at any time.

Can I be a member of the International Fellowship?

No, you can't.

IFOR has three types of membership: branches, groups and affiliates. The difference between these three rests on the level of commitment to IFOR's statement of purpose, and on the relationship between IFOR and the organization. There is no added value to individual membership of IFOR, where you can join a national fellowship, in this case The Fellowship of Reconciliation, England. Indeed, IFOR tends not to accept individual memberships.

IFOR branches around the world are the fundamental organizing units of the International Fellowship of Reconciliation. Generally, IFOR branches have an active membership, which is regional or national in character, rather than strictly local. Historically, IFOR branches have, for the most part, been defined by the nation-state in which they are active, but this is not a requirement for branch status in IFOR.

IFOR Branches:

As such, your membership of the England charity is as much as you can support IFOR as an individual. We make an annual contribution to IFOR to support the international work.

I just want to support you financially. What do I do?

Individuals who are in sympathy with FoRE and its work but do not wish to become members are listed as a financial supporter on our records. Supporters are not entitled to vote at FoRE's Annual Council nor stand for election, but are entitled to the other benefits listed for members.

To become a supporter, send us your details and just start giving.
