Please note that we are currently working hard to bring the information on this page up to date. If you have any questions about affiliation in the mean time, please call the office on 01865 250781.
Groups or organisations who are in sympathy with the work of FoRE are encouraged to affiliate with us; and there are other options too. Affiliates are asked to give generously to our work via an annual subscription (preferably by Standing Order), but we do not stipulate how much. Small local groups will obviously pay less than national groups.
There are different flavours of affiliation depending on the size of group and the group's preferences; as follows:
This can work at the national or the local level.
One of our affiliate groups, the Methodist Peace Fellowship (MPF), has become incorporated into Fellowship of Reconciliation, England. This means that their membership data is now conjoined with our own. When people join MPF, they are also joining FoR England. MPF members pay subscriptions and donations to FoR England and not MPF. Subscriptions sent to MPF are forwarded to FoR England. Like all FoRE members, MPF members can choose which communications they receive from us (and from MPF). MPF still send out their own members' news letter, and we provide them with the label data to do so.
Methodists are still free to join FoRE and not MPF if they so choose, but they have to state this, otherwise they are automatically made members of both.
MPF requests an annual grant from FoR England to meet its running costs, but also has other income sources.
MPF's activities are still governed by a fully separate elected Executive. MPF is not a registered charity.
We are looking for more groups to become fully amalgamated. Contact us if you are interested in connecting in this way.
An example fully amalgamated local group is Redditch FOR. In recent years, Redditch FOR have persuaded a local church to adopt Peace Sunday, supported ground-level community work financially, and much more.
This option is for groups working at the national level.
Some groups, like the Baptist Peace Fellowship (BPF), prefer to remain more distinct than this, so we also offer simple affiliation. This means that when people join BPF they are just joining BPF and do not automatically become members of FoR England. However BPF ask them to send the annual subscription money to FoRE, not to BPF (preferably by Standing Order).
FoRE then pays BPF an annual supporting fund.
We are always looking for more national-level groups to affiliate. Contact us if you are interested in connecting in this way.
In the case of Great Ayton Quaker Meeting, they collect an annual affiliate subscription, and forward this on to us.
We are always looking for local groups like Friends Meeting Houses to become affiliates. Contact us if you are interested in connecting in this way.
Our charity, FoR England, is just one Branch of the International Fellowship of Reconciliation (IFOR). FoR Wales and FoR Scotland are also Branches, and in total there are Branches in 83 countries and all 5 continents. As well as having Branches, IFOR has Groups and Affiliates. If your group is based in the UK, but you are not in sympathy with FoR England's 1914 Basis, you can still become a Group or Affiliate of the IFOR. For example, in the USA there is a 'FOR USA', which is a Branch of IFOR, but there is also 'Buddhist Peace Fellowship USA', which is an Affiliate of IFOR.
If you are interested in this option, we can help you with your affiliation to IFOR.
We are actively seeking UK groups to become Groups or Affiliates of IFOR. So far there are none, but we are in conversation with several. In this way we hope to demonstrate that we stand together across the faith traditions in the name of peace. Contact us if you are interested in connecting in this way.

Some groups are simply good friends. For various reasons some of them remain constitutionally separate. There is a network of Christian Peace Organisations (NCPO) and groups in this network have a working relationship with us irrespective of whether they have affiliated to us or not. We are in discussion with groups from across the faith traditions.
