Peace in my Lifetime

An International Conference on Peacebuilding with Uniting for Peace and The Fellowship of Reconciliation, England

Thursday 15th March, 2012, 14:30 - 20:00h
Hilton London Euston Hotel, 17-18 Upper Woburn Place, London WC1H 0HT

DETAILS TO BE FINALISED

Drones, Disarmament, Demilitarisation, Development, Democracy, Human Rights, Peacebuilding

The economic meltdown of the world economy in Europe and the US is diverting attention from important issues such as terrorism, development, democracy, human rights, and climate change.

These urgent matters cannot be addressed if the military-industrial complex continues spending trillions of dollars engaging war after war. Modern warfare is increasingly conducted using automated systems (drones, robots), bringing untold violence, bloodshed and suffering, and indirect deaths resulting from hunger and disease.

The 'million-dollar-question' is how we can stop the war addiction, and disarm countries which remain armed and hostile, so that war becomes impossible; thus paving the way for development, democracy, and peacebuilding.

The distinguished speakers will discuss campaign strategy, ideas for action, and the use of state-of-the-art techniques (including social media) for building a momentum for world peace; to work for welfare instead of warfare.

This event is organised jointly with Uniting For Peace. For more details, and to book, please see unitingforpeace.org. You can also contact us if you have any questions about this event and booking your place.
