Our big idea - the international fellowship
The Fellowship of Reconciliation is an international, spiritually-based movement of people who, from the basis of a belief in the power of love and truth to create justice and restore community, commit themselves to active nonviolence as a way of life and as a means of personal, social, economic and political transformation. Wikipedia entry.
"The FOR has become interfaith, and as such is a religious pioneer, pushing beyond contemporary ecumenism. It encourages people to live out the full dimensions of their beliefs, even as they are enriched and strengthened by traditions other than their own.
The FOR has fostered and encouraged peace fellowships within the various religious traditions and with these fellowships has often led the way in challenging (and assisting) established religious bodies to take up the peacemaking task, from combating homophobia and anti-Muslim prejudice to witnessing against support of dictatorial and exploitative regimes." - Richard Deats (Full article)
Our charity in England
FoR England (FoRE) is a part of this international fellowship. From the very beginning, FoRE has always made it clear that whilst it opposes war and militarism it also strives to promote those things which make for peace and justice, to build - in the words of our founders - 'a world order based on love'. Although in England we call ourselves a Christian organisation, we work alongside members of different faiths, and no faith. (See In Today's World.)
Our current areas of focus are under review
We are in the process of developing a strategy for our future work. As such, our areas of focus may change considerably in the near future. However, at the present time, FoRE:
- Undertakes education work within the Christian and wider community on peace, war and nonviolence - we educate that nonviolence works.
- Seeks to identify the causes of violent conflict and raises public awareness of them, encouraging supporters and the public to challenge the structures, policies and attitudes that lead to violent conflict
- Supports and affirms all those with a commitment to peace and nonviolence
- Is committed to developing a spirituality of peace, justice and nonviolence in witness to Christian faith and gospel values

Campaigning and nonviolent protest is part of this brief. In addtion we aim to be advocates for the vicitims of war and conflict by enabling their voices to be heard. Read more >
Supporting Peacemakers
As a Fellowship we are commmitted to supporting each other in our peace work though sharing of information through our regular newsletter Peacelinks and FoRE Email News, and by meeting together at conferences, gatherings and events. FoR also supports and works with the Denominational Peace Fellowships.
As a Fellowship, we also provide funding for international projects.
