In the Lexicon

We may be new to you, but The Fellowship of Reconciliation, England, and the International Fellowship of Reconciliation, have, or have had, membership or other active support from a number of global luminaries who you are likely to know a bit about already. One of our members, Dave D'Albert, has produced carefully researched biographical information on these figures, in his 'Lexicon of Spiritual Leaders In the IFOR Peace Movement [8.5MB] The PDF is searchable, and comes with a built-in index, so it is great for in-depth study.

On Wikipedia

For a shorter precis, here are just a few of our big names, with links to respective Wikipedia entries.

If you are visiting our head office in Oxford

If you are coming to Oxford, you may want to know about Bishop George Bell (1883 - 1958)
(Bishop of Chichester together with William Temple - later Archbishop of Canterbury) who was involved in the beginings and formation of our charity. A peace alter stands in dedication to him in Christ Church Cathedral. The alter by John Neilson is carved with words from a broadcast George Bell made to Germany in 1945: 'No nation, no church no individual is guiltless. Without repentance and without forgiveness, there can be no regeneration'. Bell was a Tutor at Christ Church. Dietrich Bonhoeffer left his last testament with him in 1945. He was awarded the Grand Cross of the Order of Merit by the Federal German Republic in 1958. The 'Bell Altar' can be seen by the general public when visiting Christ Church.
